Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring my own sewing machine?
Yes. I think it’s important to learn sewing on your own machine. We will be providing an overlocker soon.  

Do I need to bring my own scissors, pins etc.?
For beginners: if you have your own equipment and would like to bring it with you that’s absolutely fine however, if you haven’t got anything then we have a supply of scissors and pins etc. you will be able to use.
If you are attending the Improvers and Advanced courses you are expected to bring your own, but of course you can borrow any of the equipment available.  Further advice and information will be provided on booking for a course or workshop.

Will I have to bring fabrics and thread?
For the Beginners fabric and thread will be provided. Improvers and Advanced dressmaking classes you will need to bring your own fabric, thread and a commercial pattern, so you can make that individual garment to fit you.  Advice and information will be provided on booking and within sessions.

Are there any stairs to get to the studio?
No, the studio is on the ground floor. 

Can I get to you by public transport?
Yes. There is a train station 15 mins walk and a bus stop just at the end of the development.

Do you have parking?
Yes, there is a small amount of parking.

You are not listing the course I would like to do?
We are adding new courses all the time please just complete an enquiry form or ring to discuss what you are interested in doing. Alternatively, we also offer 1:1 tuition sessions, so you can develop skills and learn specifically for you.

Is there anything I need to consider about working safely before I come?
Please consider your dress and footwear for classes. No loose scarves or clothing, high heels, avoid very long nails and prepare to tie long hair back please.
